Software Architect — Augusta, Maine
I design robust, scalable systems for government and enterprise — and I'm always chasing what's next in tech. Currently shaping digital infrastructure at the State of Maine.
I started out as a teaching assistant, explaining code to eager students. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the art of structuring systems — not just writing code, but designing the blueprints that make teams ship faster and software last longer.
Over 14 years I've worn many hats — developer, analyst, senior engineer, architect — all within the .NET ecosystem. Today, I lead architectural decisions for the State of Maine's IT office while staying curious about emerging tech like generative AI and how it can sharpen the way we design and deliver software.
Guiding 15 developers on architecture, leading GitHub migrations, optimizing SQL, and setting the coding standards that keep our systems consistent and fast.
Designing enterprise-grade .NET solutions and establishing scalable patterns that development teams can build on confidently.
Co-created the NEO Application Framework for Maine's Department of Education. Stood up version control, CI/CD pipelines, and hardened security across critical state apps.
Built geospatial data visualization tools using ESRI APIs and Silverlight — mapping the real world inside .NET applications.
Led discussions, graded work, and supported faculty research — my first taste of leadership through teaching.
Presented at the .NET Developer Forum on building real-time web experiences with SignalR — covering persistent connections, scalability patterns, and practical use cases for enterprise apps.
Co-authored a custom application framework for the Maine Department of Education — a foundational layer that standardized development patterns across multiple state apps.
Built custom mapping and data visualization tools using ESRI APIs — turning raw geospatial data into interactive, analyst-friendly interfaces.
Led the full migration of version control from VSTS to GitHub for a 15-person dev team — including CI/CD pipeline redesign and team onboarding.
Systematically profiled and rewrote performance-critical queries across government applications, resulting in measurably faster page loads and reporting.
The best architecture doesn't just solve today's problem — it creates room for whatever comes next.
